23: Purpose: Football v. Soccer
I was in Colombia over spring break. It was the first time I had been out of the states and it was a very eye opening experience. Colombia is a developing country so many areas are very poor. Soccer (futbol) is very popular in Colombia. A major appeal to the sport is that fact that all you really need is a ball.
While I was in Colombia, I came up with this idea.
Idea: ‘Football’ is an American Sport. But soccer/football is an international sport. What if MLS were to go abroad and explore the different ways soccer/football is played around the world (mainly developing countries). MLS could raise money to help improve conditions in these countries. MLS could donate soccer equipment (mostly soccer balls) to kids and young adults. I think this could draw a lot of positive attention to the MLS brand.
